The word that comes to me today is mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being present and staying present. As human beings our thoughts seem to run aimlessly most of the time. To become mindful our attention is mostly focused on how we think and feel as well as what we pay attention to.
A good exercise to begin is of course to stop all outside stimuli and be with ourselves, since this is nearly impossible to do this day in age, a good exercise to start with is to turn off the music and radio for a week. See how you deal with your own thoughts and feelings, find out if you like and love yourself without the stimuli.
We always think we have no time to do such exercises or they serve no purpose but just try it and see what happens. You may discover you need to do some re-programming on your thinking and feeling selves.
